Every step explained
How It Works
Sending money in four steps
1. Walk in with your ID
Bring a valid photo ID and your recipient’s full name and location. No appointment needed.
2. See the numbers first
Before you pay, you’ll see the fee, the exchange rate, and the exact amount your family will receive.
3. Pay and get a receipt
Pay with cash or card. Your receipt has the tracking number (MTCN) your family needs to pick up the money. Keep it.
4. Your family receives it
Depending on the destination, they can pick it up in cash at a Western Union location or receive it in their bank account. We’ll tell you the options and timing.
What to Bring
Have this ready and you’ll be in and out
✓ A valid government-issued photo ID. Ask us if you’re not sure yours is accepted.
✓ Your recipient’s full name — spelled exactly as it appears on their ID, or they may have trouble picking up the money.
✓ Where they’ll receive it — country, state, and city.
✓ Bank details, for a bank deposit — the bank name and account number (for Mexico, the 18-digit CLABE).
✓ The amount you want to send, plus the fee — cash or card.
Federal rules require money transfer companies to collect more information for larger transfers. If you’re sending a large amount, call ahead and we’ll tell you what to bring.
Know Your Rights
Your protections when you send money abroad
Under the federal Remittance Transfer Rule, money transfer companies generally have to give you these protections. We’ll walk you through each one:
Disclosure before you pay. The exchange rate, fees and taxes, and the amount your recipient will get — in writing.
A receipt. It shows the date the money will be available and how to report a problem.
30 minutes to cancel. In most cases, you can cancel within 30 minutes of paying for a full refund, as long as the money hasn’t been picked up or deposited yet.
180 days to report an error. If the wrong amount arrives or the money never arrives, you can report it, and the company has to investigate.
⚠️ Protect yourself from money transfer scams
A money transfer works like cash: once it’s picked up, it’s very hard to get back. Only send money to people you know personally. Be suspicious of anyone who pressures you to send money fast — a caller claiming a relative is in jail or in trouble, someone you met online, a “prize” that requires a fee, or anyone claiming to be from the government. If something feels off, stop and ask us before you send.
Handle all your errands in one visit
While you’re here: ship a package, renew your registration without the DMV line, get a document notarized, or ask for a free car insurance quote from 30+ companies.

Common Questions
Money transfer FAQs
Where can I send money?
Almost anywhere. Most of our customers send to Mexico, and Western Union reaches countries around the world, including Central and South America. Tell us the destination and we’ll confirm the delivery options there.
Can I pick up money someone sent me?
Not at our offices — we send money only. To collect a Western Union transfer, use a Western Union location that pays out money transfers.
How much does it cost to send money?
Fees and exchange rates change and depend on the amount, the destination, and how your family receives the money. You’ll see the exact fee, the rate, and the amount received in writing before you pay — compare the amount received, not just the fee.
How can I pay for a money transfer?
Cash or card. Most of our customers pay in cash, and we take cards too.
How fast will my family get the money?
It depends on the service, the destination, and whether it’s a cash pickup or a bank deposit. We’ll tell you the expected timing before you send, and your receipt shows the date the money will be available.
What ID do I need to send money?
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID. Accepted IDs can depend on the amount you send, so call ahead if you’re not sure yours will work.
Can I cancel a money transfer?
Usually, yes — within 30 minutes of paying, as long as the money hasn’t been picked up or deposited. After that, contact us right away and we’ll help you work with Western Union.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk in to either office on Crows Landing Road during business hours — our main office at 1404 is open seven days a week, and we speak Spanish.
