Our Story

A Modesto agency, built for Modesto families

Macias Insurance opened in 2010 on Crows Landing Road, and we’ve been here ever since. We’re a family-run, independent agency — not a franchise, not a call center, and not the local branch of a company headquartered somewhere far away. The people who answer the phone live here, shop here, and send their kids to school here.

We started with a simple observation about how insurance usually gets sold in a town like ours: people were being handed whatever policy one company happened to offer, often without anyone explaining what was actually covered — and frequently in a language they weren’t comfortable making a major financial decision in. That’s a bad deal, and it’s how families end up underinsured without knowing it until the worst day of their lives.

Fifteen years later we’ve grown to three offices along the same road, and the approach hasn’t changed. We sit down with people, explain the coverage in whichever language they prefer, shop it across dozens of companies, and tell them the truth — including when the honest answer is that they don’t need what they’re asking about, or that their current policy is already fine.

Independent Means

What “independent” actually means for you

A captive agent works for one insurance company. When you call them, they quote you that company’s product — that’s the only thing they can do. If their carrier decides your neighborhood is too risky, or raises rates on your age group, or stops writing your type of home, the conversation is over and you start from scratch somewhere else.

We’re independent. We represent 30+ carriers, so when your rate jumps or a company pulls out of California, we move you instead of losing you. You keep the same agent, the same phone number, and the same person who already knows your situation — only the policy behind it changes. Over a lifetime of owning cars and homes, that continuity is worth a great deal.

It matters most exactly when things get hard. California’s home insurance market has been rough for years, with major insurers non-renewing longtime customers. Carriers underwrite health conditions completely differently from one another. Drivers who need an SR-22 get turned away by companies that simply don’t write them. In every one of those situations, having 30+ doors to knock on instead of one is the whole ballgame.

Se habla español — and we mean all of it

Plenty of agencies put “se habla español” on the window and mean that somebody in the back can help if they’re around. For us it’s how the agency actually operates. The quote, the questions, the application, the renewal conversation, and the phone call when you have a claim — all of it, in Spanish, from people who speak it natively.

That matters more in insurance than in most businesses, because the details are where the money is. The difference between actual cash value and replacement cost, what your deductible really means, why a cheap quote is cheap — those are the things that decide whether a policy protects your family or disappoints them. Nobody should have to guess at that in a second language, and nobody should have to bring a bilingual relative along to buy something this important.
